Delicato is a small interior design company from Italy that relies on classical architecture in its designs. The core value of this brand is to create spaces that blend the richness of historical elements with modern aesthetics.

Brand
Strategy

Since the core values of this company were based on embracing the grandeur of classical Roman art while maintaining a modern identity, I needed to design a logo that would serve as a bridge between the classical and contemporary eras. This project was an exciting opportunity for me to explore my passion for art history, allowing me to revisit some of my favorite books, including *Art Through the Ages* by Helen Gardner and *The Story of Art* by Ernst Gombrich. After extensive research and study, I decided to draw inspiration from the iconic classical columns, which are widely recognized symbols of that era. At the same time, I carefully selected colors that reflected the essence and spirit of that period, ensuring that the design stayed true to both historical and modern sensibilities.

Logo
Design

"Delicato" is an Italian word meaning "delicate" in English. This word conveys a sense of elegance and refinement. As I previously mentioned, I drew inspiration from classical Roman columns to reflect this delicacy. After designing the column shape, I simplified it as much as possible, transforming it into a balance of positive and negative space, ultimately integrating it with the letter "D."
While the presence of the column evokes the architecture of the classical era, I introduced a subtle break in the lower curved line to symbolize a distinction between the classical and modern styles.
This gap represents the inevitable separation created by time, even as the two periods remain interconnected. Through this logo, I aim to illustrate the fusion of these eras while acknowledging the distance between them.

Color Palette

Typography

For the brand typography, I selected Gyst Variable as the primary font and Rock Grotesk as the secondary. Gyst Variable brings a refined and contemporary feel with its clean lines and elegant structure, making it a perfect reflection of our modern design approach. At the same time, it carries a sense of harmony and proportion that echoes the balance found in classical Roman architecture and art.
Rock Grotesk, used as the secondary font, adds a bold and grounded presence. Its subtle character and geometric clarity create a visual contrast that complements the sophistication of Gyst, while still maintaining a timeless quality. Together, these fonts strike a balance between classic elegance and modern minimalism—just like our interior design philosophy.
